Abrinken - A Poem

Hello lovely people <3
Today I wanted to share a poem written by one of our members with you all.
If you have a piece of art you would like to share with the community, send us an email or a message on signal.

ABRINKEN

In the morning, Abrinken slowly wakes.

A tarp flaps in the wind.
A door slams shut.
The kettle goes on.

Someone slept badly.
Someone slept well.
Someone didn't sleep at all.

But the coffee finds its way to the table.

Three people are already sitting there.

One with mud on their trousers.
One with a guitar leaning against the chair.
Another just staring out between the trees,
saying:

"It's going to be a good day."

Even though it's raining.

On Abrinken, there is always something to do.

A plank needs fixing.
A bicycle needs repairing.
Firewood needs carrying inside.
The garden needs watering,
even though the sky is already doing a better job.

Someone builds.

Someone cooks.

Someone finds an old sofa
and decides, of course,
that it deserves another life.

Most things here have had another life before.

The planks.
The furniture.
The pots and pans.
The bicycles.

Maybe that's why everything fits so well.

Because here, you don't necessarily believe
in throwing something away
just because it's old.

You repair it.

You build on it.

You figure it out together.

As the afternoon comes,
more people arrive.

Someone comes by for the first time.

"Is this a place where you can just walk in?"

Yes.

A chair is pulled out.

Someone pours them a coffee.

The conversation begins.

And suddenly, a person
who was a stranger ten minutes ago
is sitting around the table,
arguing with everyone else
about what should be built next.

That's how Abrinken grows.

Not through advertising.

Not through membership cards.

But through people.

One person helps another.

Someone teaches someone else.

Someone asks for help.

Someone says:

"I've never done this before."

And gets the answer:

"Neither have we."

So you try.

When evening comes,
the city grows darker around us.

The lights of Aarhus
shine between the branches.

But here,
there is light from a fire.

People gather around the warmth.

Food is being cooked.

A pot is passed around.

Bread is torn apart and shared.

Someone plays music.

Someone sings along.

Someone sings completely out of tune.

Nobody cares.

A dog runs past.

Someone laughs.

Someone tells a story
that has already been told three times.

And everyone laughs again anyway.

It isn't perfect.

It isn't supposed to be.

People argue too.

People misunderstand each other.

People get tired.

Someone needs to walk away for a while.

But the next day,
you might still find yourself standing beside them,
a drill in your hand.

Because community isn't
about everyone agreeing.

Community is
about continuing to figure out
how we can all be here together.

And then there is the earth.

The wet soil beneath your boots.

The small plants.

The trees.

The birds in the morning.

Everything green,
growing without asking permission.

You can stand in the middle of Abrinken
and almost forget
that you're in Aarhus.

Then you hear a car.

A train.

A siren.

The city reminds you
that it's still there.

And maybe that's exactly
why Abrinken feels so powerful.

Because it isn't far away
from the world.

It is right in the middle of it.

Because what really is a home?

Is it somewhere you own?

Four walls?

An address?

Or is it a place
where someone saves a portion of food for you
if you arrive late?

A place
where someone knows
where the hammer is?

A place
where you can sit down
without having to explain
why you're there?

Maybe a home
is simply somewhere
where other people say:

"Come inside."

Abrinken isn't finished.

It probably never will be.

There will be more planks.

More plants.

More people.

More mistakes.

More evenings around the fire.

And maybe that's the whole point.

You don't need to have the whole solution
before you begin.

You can begin with a table.

A pot.

A garden.

A conversation.

One hand reaching out to help.

Another hand reaching back.

And build from there.

Day by day.

Person by person.

Plank by plank.

In the middle of Aarhus.

Between the trees.

In the middle of everything old.

Abrinken stands.

And around the fire,
people sit together
imagining

that maybe the world
could be different.

Not tomorrow.

Not even necessarily next year.

But right now.

Here.

Together.

Abrinken - Increased Police Activity

For the past four days the police has shown more and more interest in Ⓐbrinken. Several times a day they have slowly driven past our entrance, turned around at the cricket field parking lot, and left again the way they came. A few times they've exchanged words with our front guard from inside their car. We have also spotted them on the other side of the autonomous zone.

Last night, a white van with a super bright spotlight on the roof and the word "Innsatsleder" on the side pulled up to our front gate. Two police officers stepped out and tried to walk past our guard post. They ultimately decided against it, and left without any incident.

Abrinken - Radio Silence

The following update is a statement on our communication attempts with Aarhus Municipality.

We have repeatedly reached out to Aarhus Municipality to initiate a dialogue, yet have received no response.
We have invited the Department of Urban Development, Line Joel (Head of Aarhus Real Estate), and Nikolaj Bang personally—not just for a meeting, but also for a tour of the site.
We find it puzzling that Nikolaj Bang attempts to portray the situation as if they have exhausted all avenues for a peaceful, diplomatic solution and are forced to resort to harsher measures, given that Aarhus Municipality has rejected every attempt at dialogue.

Since the original publication of this post the commune has received an email from the municipality in which they reject our invitation to a meeting.

Abrinken - Eviction Notice

This is a call to action!

The cops and municipality came with an eviction notice this morning.

According to the state, we have until the 9th of September to pack up and leave.

Although we don't know if they wil actually evict us, we think this is a crucial time to get involved and help protect our home🔥

We have already tried to reach out to the municipality, but we have not heard back from them yet.

We need all hands on deck, making food, building structures, maintaining the area and having fun💖

Abrinken - Under the covers

Hi comrades! 💞

We’ve had cops visiting us twice the last few days. They haven’t been hostile, and both times they left without entering and without ID’ing people 🐷

We’ve been handling things super well, but from tomorrow we will be down in numbers, which makes us more vulnerable 🖤

We therefore very much encourage you to come and spend your weekend with us 🔥

We have plenty of sleeping spaces, good food, nice projects and cute comrades 🥰

You can contact us through this Signal profile or through our email: abrinken8000@proton.me 💌

Abrinken - You've got Mail!

We've sent an email to Aarhus Municipality and invited them for a chat and a look at the Garden (without police) 🌳

Hopefully initiating peaceful, diplomatic contact will deter the municipality from escalating the police intervention ☮️

We also keep fortifying and upgrading our perimeter defences to make sure the cops will never know what to expect when they arrive

Stay tuned for further updates ✨

Abrinken - The men in yellow

We had a nice little visit from the municipality today 🏛️

Unfortunately for them, they decided to bring some cops. We obviously couldn’t let those guys in… so they had to turn around and leave 👮‍♂️❌

We believe they’ll try to come back again in the near future, and we therefore invite you all to come out and support us in the coming weeks!

We always have many things to do, and we would love your help. If you already live in the area, you are always welcome to drop by and join our daily plenums at 12:30. They’re a chill way to start the day, and a great way of finding out more about what’s going on here at Ⓐbrinken ❤️

Let’s build a utopia together! 🌳

Abrinken - Pigs at the gate

Call to action!

Fellow activists, we have now had our first real interaction with the police. Four of them showed up on our doorstep last night, with another eight (plus some dogs) arriving soon after to guard the perimeter.

We got enough advance warning from our perimeter guard to be able to send out a greeting party. The interaction proceeded amicably enough, despite the tense situation. The cops took a bunch of photos, tried (and failed) to get information from us, and went on their way.

So if you’ve been here before and know you want to return, or if you’ve been thinking about dropping by to help make this place a permanent reality, we urge you to consider now the time to do so.

Let us gather our strength and come together now. Let’s make sure that Ⓐbrinken is here to stay!

Abrinken - Banners

A set of banners has popped up around the area.
We happen think they're pretty cool.
