In the early morning of September 22, 2026, Ⓐbrinken awoke to the sounds of barking police dogs, shouted orders, and the repeated crashing of a battering ram against our perimeter fortifications. Within minutes, 20+ police officers in full riot gear swarmed through the gates in a massive show of force, using the cover of darkness to hide the brutal reality of their operation.
They tore us from our beds, forced us to sit naked outside in the morning cold, and showed not a care in the world about the dislocated shoulder and other injuries they so callously inflicted upon us.
As soon as the police had us in custody, the municipality bulldozed their way through the trees to tear down every building in sight. They showed no consideration for the nature they were harming, no consideration for the bats and other endangered species sighted in the area. They tore us from our homes, and levelled them to the ground.
They did this to a peaceful community of activists, simply because we dared to settle a small strip of unused, contaminated land, with no concrete plan for development. They did this because we dared to speak up for the natural rights of people, over that of profit-seeking corporations and the governments that protect them.
We, the people of Ⓐbrinken, lived in harmony with nature. We had friendly and positive relations with our neighbours. We built our community around core anarchist principles, such as freedom, equality, solidarity and mutual aid, and we invited everyone who shared those values to join our endeavour. We built a paradise in central Aarhus, and showed an alternative way towards the future.
This is what the police and the municipality destroyed.
We showed that it is possible to start building a thriving society, free from the shackles of capitalism or state control, where we care about the natural world, and where individuals working on whatever they find rewarding can create remarkable synergies. A society without bosses or leaders or state control. A truly equal society.
This is what the state fears enough to warrant their massively expensive operation to surveil and arrest us. We wanted peaceful coexistence, to live in harmony side by side. They ignored all attempts at communication and dialogue, and opted for violence and destruction instead. They took our tools, our food, our shelter and our home, but they will never take our spirit!
Ⓐbrinken itself may have been seized, but its people will continue the fight. We will light the way towards a brighter future — for the people of Aarhus, and the world beyond!
Long live Ⓐbrinken!
